Work With God, Not For God!

Work With God, Not For God!

Most people of every Christian faith work for God. They move on every idea that comes to mind. Notice I said “mind,” not spirit.

Adam walked with God in the Garden of Eden. Enoch walked with God. To walk with is much different than to work for. To walk with necessitates a very close, intimate relationship.

Many years ago I had the great honor of sitting in a meeting of thousands of people in Washington, D.C. where the Holy Spirit moved in a mighty way. With my own eyes I saw close to one hundred wheel chairs emptied as the Holy Spirit moved through the auditorium and through the walls to the surrounding corridors. Everyone was healed.

A small woman was the speaker at that event. She kept the audience waiting for some twenty minutes as she sat in her dressing room. Why was she just sitting there? She was waiting on the Holy Spirit. She would not move without Him. She walked with God, she did nothing on her own.

Wow! What a simple yet profound lesson. She walked with God!

I distinctly remember that meeting. I had been reborn less than two months when one of my Holy Ghost mentors from Christian Fellowship took me to that meeting as his guest. We sat near the front in the center section. That was 38 years ago and just last night God showed me why it was important for my destiny.

She said in a statement that she would never speak to an audience without the Holy Spirit coming with her. He is not pleased by the things we do for Him. He desires an intimate relationship with Him that allows us to work with Him, in conjunction with Him as His child, not as a hired hand.

Working for God is an employee, employer relationship. Working with God is a son or daughter relationship. If I am a child of God I should act as a child, not as a hired hand.

If God lives in me, connected to my spirit, I must learn to move with Him as He moves, I must not lead Him, He must lead me. It is the Father, child relationship that pleases my Father in heaven.

This is my prayer, “Dear God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, thy will be done here on earth in me as thy will is done in heaven. All of you and none of me. My greatest desire is to please you my Father. Have your way Holy Spirit. Do whatever you must do to get me to the place where you can use my to Glorify, Magnify, Praise and Worship you with a broken and contrite spirit. I give myself completely to you. Amen”

I always address God as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There is no confusion in that name. God gave Himself that name as a memorial to Himself in front of Moses at the burning bush. He is the God I serve.

Want to hear God’s voice clearly? Surrender your will to him. Not my will but thy will be done here on earth as it is in heaven.

Walk with God, work with God, be His child and He will be Daddy. I love you Daddy, I love you my Father.
